Have you been to my sister Rachel’s blog, Playing House? It’s my favorite blog ever and this week we are being featured on her Typical Tuesdays! Thanks for having us Rach!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me just start by saying that when your husband is a commercial airline pilot with what I affectionately refer to as a “no-schedule schedule,” there really is no such thing as a “Typical” Tuesday (or a Typical any-other-day for that matter). But, with that disclaimer, this is what last Tuesday looked like!
Zach had a short layover in Seattle from Monday night through Tuesday early afternoon, so we were all home when our Baby Boy woke us up at 6:26 in the morning. I got Caden from his crib and we spent the next about 1/2 hour doing our favorite thing – SNUGGLING!
At 7:00 I decided it was about time to get out of bed and get ready for the day. Whenever Zach is home in the mornings I get in the shower and get ready while he takes Caden downstairs to get him fed and dressed. He also makes me an amazing latte and brings it up to in the bathroom to enjoy while I get ready…talk about SPOILED. :) And today I’m wearing my awesome hair thing that Rach made all the girls for our sister’s wedding a couple weeks ago.
After Caden and I are both ready to go I take him to his daycare where he goes 3 days a week (he’s home with Zach the other 2 weekdays) and then I head to my office a couple blocks from his school while Zach gets to enjoy a (rare) quiet morning at home, just him and Porter the dog, going for a long run and relaxing before he heads back to the airport. Once I get to work I turn on my computer and then get coffee #2 (and usually #3…but I swear at some point during the day I switch to green tea). I work at an engineering firm in Redmond, WA as an environmental geologist doing primarily soil and groundwater remediation.
Usually around 11:30 or 12:00 I go to lunch with co-workers (sorry, forgot to take pictures) and then occasionally stop by Caden’s school to peak in on him at nap time. The kids look so cute all laying on their individual cots around the play room snuggled into their blankets.
After work (usually around 4:30 or 5ish) I pick Caden up from school and we head home…Zach won’t get home until around midnight, so Caden and I are on our own. We play trains for what feels like hours and then we eat a super quick dinner (cause we’re too busy playing trains to cook) of breakfast food: pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast, tomatoes and bacon.
After dinner it’s time for a bath and by about 7:45 the baby is asleep in his bed!
Now is when I feed Porter the Puppy and walk through the house and assess the damage from the afternoon. I’m always amazed at how messy the house can get in a few short hours! I spend the next 20-30 minutes cleaning up after the tornado.
After that I head straight into my sewing/craft/office room where I spend the next couple hours working on my latest project…sorry, can’t share what I’m making, but I will say that it’s almost Mother’s Day!
I usually get into bed around 10 or 10:30 and tonight Zach crawled in sometime around 11:30 or midnight. Life is good!
